I got a bit of a problem there with a WD external drive. I borrowed it to someone and they said it was plugged in to a PC with non-windows operative system on it (I believe it was linux). Anyways it was processing something and they said they canceled it. After that, disk wont start up on the windows again. I believe it was trying to adjust to the new operative system or something and I don’t know how to force the disk to adjust back to start on windows?
I’ve checked in device manager and it does recognize the disk being plugged in but it’s all blank.
If someone could point me to any direction of what I could do about this I’d be most gratful.
Disk INFO:
WD P/N: WD6400H1U-00
[Deleted - Trancer]
That’s what I found in the bottom of the disk, if you need any more info let me know.
When I go to Device Manager it says under Disk drives there’s WD 6400AAC External USB Device but it doesn’t show up in the My Computer.
On the management it’s blank under Volume, and under status it says Healthy (Primary Partition), also Capacity and Free Space are the same like if it’s empty but it shouldn’t of been.
Yah, sorry for being impatient but waiting 2-3 days for one respond… no-one would be happy with that
And yet, feel like I’m talking to a wall, as I’ve answered those questions already…
YES it’s showing as healthy device and it doesn’t have a letter assigned to it, all is blank. It just doesn’t show up under “My computer”
Now let me say this again, disk was put on the PC with linux on it and I believe it was trying to adjust to work on the new operative system and it messed disk up. I was told to go download something from WD site or something to force the disk to adjust back on trying to work on windows again or are there any other ways of doing so?
Actually that’s where I found this forum, was trying to find my disk by it’s model to get the downloads for it, but nothing poped up. And then I found the forum and I thought it’s the support from the WD team as well.
Anyways I’ve tried searching for my disk model again and it found it this time, got the downloads I’ve run the disk test program and it passed but disk still not showing up.
Another thing that I didn’t mention, while disk is plugged in it’s flashing blue normaly and you can hear it running. So everything seems to be fine with it, just doesn’t show up as partition In disk manager only option for it I have is format. Can’t set a new partition or anything. And format is of course out of the option as I have important data on it.
I guess I’ll write an email to WD support then, if no-one else here can help me? Tho I’ll give you a kudos star Matrix
Not yet, will post here as soon as I do. I kind of gave the world a few more days if someone would be kind enough to pop up with a solution on this forum before I go bug WD support by sending them mail.
