WD File Management System Hogging Memory

The other day my PC started lagging terribly. I thought I had a virus. I did all the various checks, and came up clean. I looked at Task Manager, and saw no memory or CPU drains, until I clicked “Show processes from all users.”

Wow - currently WDFME.exe is using 7,099,180 K of memory. Any idea why this is happening? How can I reset or modify some settings to lower this? I’m sure this is causing my sluggishness.

I use:

  • WD Quick View
  • WD SmartWare

Running Windows 7

Any help would be appreciated.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling WD Smartware.
