Hi there. I have just purchased a new 8tb WD Elements Desktop hard drive and it is reading 336mb space used with nothing on the drive - is this normal?
Also the overall capacity is only reading 7.2tb?

There’s always a bit of hidden space used on new hard drive (partition info/file system/cache/indexing/software etc etc)

Yep, that’s correct … 7.276TB to be precise.

Manufacturers/Advertising use Base 10 math … Computers/Operating Systems use Base 2
