Incorrect "space used"?

I’ve just received and formatted my new WD Elements 2TB drive. Strangely, when I open the properties of the drive (with the pie chart) and look at the “space used” it reads “239 MB”. This number is always the same, after I format and even when I remove and add the partition.

On the other hand, when I go to disk management and look at the columns for the particular columns I see:

Capacity:      1863,01 MB

Free space: 1862,78 MB

% Free:         100%

Then, when right click on the drive in disk management and go to properties, I see the “239 MB”  number again.

So who is right?

Thanks for your suggestion! It’s now in the process of formatting. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

OK, ‘zero erase’ is done and just formatted the drive to NTFS.

Turns out that the 239 MB is, as I suspected, from the MFT.  But being assured is worth something too. :slight_smile:
