Remove the drive from its enclosure and upload photos of each side of the two PCBs, Sometimes there is an easy, no cost, DIY solution.
I’m assuming you have already tested the AC adaptor.

Depressing that you went to all of that effort and no one followed-up.
I have the exact same drive, WDBACW0020HBK. It worked one week and the next week it would not power on, no matter what I did. It was not a power supply problem.
WD should have made the My Book Elements and Essential series have encryption turned off by default. I never had a worry about it. I never took my drive anywhere outside my home. But now, because the HDD inside is encrypted using WD proprietary PCB firmware, there’s no way to extract the data.
Did you ever find a solution? Or were you forced to give up?
