I dropped my WD 3tb external drive (WD-BAAU0030HBK-01) and now computer wont recognise it.

my friends opened it up and said it needs to be put in a new drive and the arm replaced, can anyone recommend where i can get a spare one? and how much would it approx cost to retrieve the data off it.

Cheers

Hello,

Replacing the internal drive might not be the proper solution. Normally the drive PCB does not allow drive replacement, I’ll suggest you to contact a data recovery company to retrieve the data.

The HDD can spin, but can’t be recognized. The problem was not caused by PCB. Swap PCB will not help. The problem was caused by the HDD firmware corrupted
