Want to try USB hub; not sure about a few things

I am currently using a WD Elements 500GB external hard drive for all my digital media needs for my WD TV Play. So far it is working excellent. However, it is almost full, so I decided to buy another identical 500GB hard drive. Both hard drives are USB powered only. I’m looking at getting a USB hub, because the specifications state that the Play should work with most standard hubs. The price difference between unpowered and powered hubs isn’t huge, but its enough that I’d still like to save money where I can.

I am also thinking about attaching a USB wireless aftermarket remote as well. I’m not even sure if it will work with the Play, but I’m willing to give it a try.

Question#1: Does the Play give sufficient power output to the single USB port to properly run two 500GB hard drives with an unpowered hub? Or should I look at buying a AC powered hub instead?

Question #2: Would there be enough power output to run the wireless remote I want to buy, in addition to the 2 hard drives, all at the same time?

We recommend to use Powered USB Hubs and preferably the ones that have already been tested.

You can use the WD TV Remote App as an alternative to the conventional remote.

Yes… I’ve read through the tested USB hubs before. I wouldn’t have asked this question if I hadn’t already went there to check. The question I asked was regarding the limitations of the USB port, not specifically which type of hub I am intending on using. I will figure that out on my own. I just need to know this:

Most USB 2.0 ports supply a maximum of 5v (+/-0.25) and 500mA. Can you tell me the maximum amperage output that the single USB port supplies on the WD TV Play? If the player can give me the full 500mA, then an unpowered hub should do the trick.
