Is there any particular brand of flash drive more compatible with the WD TV Live player than any other? I’ve been trying to play a 1920x1080p mp4 file I created using Premiere Pro CS5 off a PNY 16GB flash drive. Sometimes it plays smoothly, other times the playback hangs up for seconds at a time, then continues without sound, and then sound finally kicks back in. I had high hopes for this player, but I can’t recommend it to my client for trade show use with the playback issues I’ve been experiencing. If you have any tips I’ll be glad to hear them. Thanks!
The brand should not affect how the device performs as they all need to comply with certain standards. When a device is not compatible, then it may not be recognized at all. However, the device’s health status in question can affect performance.
I would recommend checking the SMART status and run a health diagnostic on the flash drive. If it passes the test and other flash drives are presenting playback issues as well then it would indicate an issue with the WDTV.
