Upgrade to 10.11.3, WD Passport not on desktop

Hi All-

I have a WD My Passport for Mac that isn’t functioning after upgrading to 10.11.3. When I plug it in, I get the error message “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer” and it doesn’t mount to the desktop.

The drive is there in disk utility and when I click first aid, it tells me the process is done with a green check mark. Also, when I run a status check in WD utilities, it says “SMART status passed.”

I’ve tried:

  • On another Mac, same problem
  • Erasing WD Disk Utilities
  • A different cable

Any fixes for this? I have a ton of data on this drive for work and need to be able to access it!

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hello,

If you have tried on another computer and you still having the same issue it is possible the partition on the drive is corrupted. Since you need to recover the data on the drive I recommend you try a data recovery software. After you have recovered your data then you should try formatting the drive.

I just got a new Macbook with 10.11.3 and My Book won’t mount and I can’t install the WD Drive Utility. The installer keeps crashing.

Hi, I have the same problem on 3 different Macs with “WD_Drive_Utilities_Installer_2_0_3_30”. It crashes every time. Are there some news on this? Thanks.
