Unable to format My Passport to exFAT

Hi all,

I was trying to format my new HDD (My Passport 4TB) to exFAT so that I can use it on MAC and Windows. I was following the WD Comunity instructions, but when I opened the New Simple Volume Wizard on my Windows 10, it would not give me an option to select exFAT in the section File System.

Could anyone explain why is this?

For a hard drive to be able to be read and written to in both a PC and Mac computer, it must be formatted to ExFAT or FAT32 file format. FAT32 has several limitations, including a 4 GB per-file limit. This is a file system limitation that affects both Mac’s and PC’s, and the only workaround is to format the drive to exFAT.
