Unable to access Dashboard on My Cloud Home

I am unable to access the Dashboard on My Cloud Home.

During the setup the device could not be located so I skipped that step (after multiple attempts) and proceeded to create on online user account.

I looked online and found that with the My Cloud product (different to My Cloud Home) you can access your device through http://wdmycloud.local. This is not working for My Cloud Home.

Is there a similar approach that can be taken with My Cloud Home?

I don’t own one, but there isn,t a Dashboard for the My Cloud Home.

As someone who is completely new to WD products, it was not immediately obvious to me that My Cloud and My Cloud Home are completely different products. Distinctly different names would have made that much easier to pick up.

I have looked repeatedly at the manual, but I haven’t found it that helpful for when things don’t work as they should (For example, when the app can’t find the device during set-up). It could be that I have different expectations to others, but I don’t think it is reasonable to have to read through a lengthy User Manual in to trouble shoot and decipher potential solutions to problems which shouldn’t really arise when the device is being used in such a simple way - i.e. purely as a place to backup data. It is too time consuming and very frustrating.

WD are quite lucky they have people like you helping to answer queries from new users like me.
