Trying to expand; stuck on "insert drive"

I’m currently expanding my EX4100 from 4x2TB to 4x4TB. I’d upgraded each disk in turn, and then went to Storage->RAID->RAID 5->Expand. It’s now stuck on a screen that says “Expanding. Insert new drive.” I’ve tried taking out the drive in slot 1 and re-inserting it, but there’s no change. Now it just thinks there are three drives (slots 2-4), and I can’t convince it to continue.

Any idea what to do? Do I just rebuild the whole array and restore from backup?
