Time Machine "Limited"

Hello.  Is it possible to have control over the Time Machine feature.  I have an 8TB drive with one Time Machine Backup network device.  I have several people I would like to add to the Sharespace… from what I’m seeing, I can have one which instantly is reg by Time Machine.

I can’t even change the name of the “factory” - WD_Backup.  What if I wanted the entire ShareSpace to be for Backups?  Would I have to mount the share everytime I wanted to do a Time Machine Sync?

I could understand if I paid $200 for this model… but I paid over $1000 dollars

I work in IT… this product should be much better than it is.  Maybe I will start writing the President of Western Digital.  See if he can make a few calls and get this product up to what it should be.  I mean seriously, you’re building a NAS system, not the next Google.

For Time Machine you need to go to apple as WD don’t really support it, but I can tell you that you can back up many macs to it all at the same time.  All macs have the same user and password (for backup) even the time capsule from apple work the same.  Each backup if kept separate with a unique ID on the mac side of things.  Just configure the user name in Time Machine as WD_Backup and the password as Backup on ALL macs - Time Machine will sort the rest out.

I have 2 Apple machines using Time Machine, each machine is connecting and syncing automatically and writing to its own sparsebundle file in a dedicated folder share on the WD ShareSpace. Is that what you mean by having control over the Time Machine feature?
