SUdden slow performance

Hi. I have a MyBookLIve 2TB, around 1/3 full, which has been working fine for a couple of years. All of a sudden it’s started running unbelievably slow, taking up to a minute for explorer to show the root drive, never mind navigating. I’ve tried powering it down and back up without any difference, once it improved matters but only for a day. This is the same from PC and Mac, all machines connected to it.

This has scared me into buying a new 2x2TB box which hopefully I can mirror. There don’t appear to be any maintenance options anywhere in the dashboard. How can you check the health of one of these Units? And does anyone have any ideas to improve the situation?

Settings> Utilities> Device Diagnostic.

This will allow you to run an internal test for disk health and will let you know if there’s a physical issue with the hard drive. If it passes the test try replacing your unit’s Ethernet cable.

Ah, thank you. I have no idea how I missed that.

Oddly, I’ve just moved house and it’s now behaving perfectly again. Did it just need a snooze?
