Storing iTunes media folder on WD My Book Live

I had my iTunes media folder stored locally on a Windows PC’s C drive. I had enabled the ‘Keep iTunes Media folder organized’ and ‘Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library’ options on the Windows PC. Also the library had been consolidated.

After I got the WD MyBookLive 1TB I copied the “iTunes” folder from the Windows PC’s “Music” folder and put it inside the “Shared Music” folder of the MBL.

I then connected to the folder from a Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 system using “afp://192.168.168.100” (where 192.168.168.100 is the static IP I’ve assigned to the MBL). I’m also able to copy files to and from the drive using Finder.

I then opened iTunes on the Mac OS X Lion system and changed the iTunes media folder from the default to the “iTunes” folder which is inside the “Shared Music” folder of the MBL.

However this does not show me the music and other files which I had in the iTunes library.

What should I be doing to keep the iTunes media folder on the MBL and access it from the Mac via the network?

Thanks.

You may not need to move your Media Library, you can use the Itunes Server of the MBL to stream your music to Itunes:  http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2724/session/L3RpbWUvMTMyNzE1ODIwOS9zaWQvdG1sTmtJT2s%3D

I think you might be having a recent problem that is happening with the latest itunes version.

Videos and music stored on a My Book Live, My Book Live Duo, My Book World, or WD ShareSpace cannot be streamed through iTunes
