Slow Mac Direct Connection To WD My Cloud

Hi there.

I am having trouble achieving fast connection speeds with a direct connection from my Macbook Pro 13" (late 2013) and the WD My Cloud.

I am connection using a Cat5e cable and the Gigabit thunderbolt adapter on my Mac end. On The My Cloud I am getting two green lights on the Ethernet adapter.

I have also disabled itunes and media serving on the drive. I also have updated to the latest firmware.

The transfer speeds I am geting when testing using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test are as follows:

Write: 29.6 mb/s
Read 64.4 mb/s

Compared to other users online this seems considerably slower.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am starting to think that I might have a faulty drive, as it is fairly old now. (over 5 years).
