I’ve spent hours ripping my DVD collection to ISO files so I can stream from my upstairs PC. The vast majority of films are fine but I do see one or two not filling the screen entirely and look like they’re in a letterbox, there’s no way of enlarging the zoom through the options button on the remote, any way around this?
Many older DVDs ARE in letterbox format (i.e. ones from the early days of DVDs.) If some rips are fine and others aren’t, that is likely the problem. How do these rips look on the computer?
For TV viewing, the WDTV should be set to widescreen, and to view letterbox movies, set the TVs ratio control to ZOOM.
Why would you rip them to ISO is beyond me but anyway, when you are playing the movie see what options you get when you hit options. Im pretty sure I have seen something about aspect ratio in there. Im at work and cant check now. Also you can change aspect ratio of your files by encoding/converting them to aspect ratio you want.
