I have a public (to my network) share for my music.
I use MediaMonkey for my media server, and from my PC, my MediaMonkey player can play the files fine.
On my TV upstairs, I use a Roku and its media player app to access my MediaMonkey server.
All is well until it tries to actually play a file, at which point I get an error that the file isn’t available.
Please help.
I do not on a regular basis use the Roku media player to access my music from NAS, but I have done it, and it works. I do not use media monkey, so my Roku gets music served up via Twonky in the WD NAS. WHy not bypass media monkey?
I suppose because I play mostly from Playlists, and I manage them all through MM.
Perhaps Twonky could pick up the Playlsits as well.
I appreciate the suggestion, and will explore that.
I’d like to understand why it’s not working, too, though.
The sole User on my WD drive is admin, and the drive allows my PC to play the files via MM.
I don’t see why it’s not allowing the MM server (running on my PC) to access the files too.
I also play music from playlists. They require playing via a DLNA/UPnP media server and app/program. Windows is a media server, so find a way to play your playlists this way instead of from MM. My preferred way is to use my WDTV media server selection, choose a playlist and play it through the stereo.
