Retrieving data from old PC to Mac

Hi Everyone,

I want to retrieve all my backed up data from my WD My Book Essential which used to be connected to my PC. I now have an iMac as well and want the data from the external hard drive onto the iMac. I can open and see the files in the external hard drive (.zip files, user manual etc) but when i open the WD Smartware program to retrieve the data it says 'No writable WD Smartware partition found. Anyone have any idea what’s going on?

You will need to retrieve your data manually.

Open the WD Smartware backup folder called “WDSmartware.swstor” located in the root of your external drive. Here you will find your backed up files and then you will have to copy and paste them into the Mac computer.
