Restart Backup from Scratch - deleting the backup

Hi, And thanks ahead of time for your help!

I think I’d like to restart by backup from scratch. To be clear, I mean delete all the backed up data from the target drive, a 1 TB My Passport Ultra, and then start the backup again like it never ever did the backup. What do I need to do?

I’m using WD Backup and a WD My Passport Ultra 1 TB external HD.

What directories/files do I need to delete on the external HD?
What do I need to do with backup plans?
What about uninstalling, re-installing the WD backup SW?
What else?
In what order/steps do I do these?

My goal is to just get rid of all the changes that it stores so the size will be smaller. Right now the backup folder “WD Backup.swstor” has about 836 GB our of 1 TB. I’ve trimmed down what is backed up. Additionally, treesize indicates that about 7 of the child folders are corrupt.

I also need to figure out what to do with a few SD Card images that are very significant in size 64 GB.

Additionally, I don’t care about the previous changes to files ( I think…).

Thanks!

What device and operating system are you using?

Windows 10
HP laptop i7
WD My Passport Ultra 1TB

Did you eve get a response? I’d like to do the same thing.

Hi,

I didn’t get a response but I did figure it out.

It’s been quite awhile so I’m not sure I remember it clearly.

I’m pretty sure I deleted the directory WD Backup.swstor.
I’d also stop/exit the backup software before you delete the directory.

I’m not sure I did anything else.

I actually deleted the entire drive, not just the .swstor file. Now that I’m re-backing up everything, it’s taking forever. I wonder if I deleted some files that I shouldn’t have?
