I purchased two My Book Lives last year to use as rotating back up drives - one on site, one off site. Since then I’ve decided to get rid of my PC and switch to a MacBook Air.
I’m keen to be able to use Carbon Copy Cloner in order to create full disk-image, bootable backups of my 2011 MacBook Air, but the CCC support page says my network drives have to be reformatted to HFS+ in order to make this possible.
The only problem I face is that it seems a network drive must be cabled to the Mac in order for Disk Utility to be able to format the drive… and the MacBook Air’s only ports are 2xUSB and 1x Thunderbolt. The MyBook Live is only ethernet.
Is there a workable adapter cable, or another solution - other than selling the two MyBook Lives and replacing with USB drives?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!
