I have been looking for some time now for a way to recover a HD using one of the USB 3.0 ports on the WD DX4000. I have been testing the recovery feature and some of our machines have several terabytes of storage it takes several hours to restore a HD over my gigabit network. If their was a way to recover from the USB port maybe it would only take a fraction of the time.
I think you’ll find that a gigabyte network is faster than USB 3 at least in the real world. Most of the restores I’ve done have been no more than 100GB and usually take less than one hour. Takes longer if you watch though. How big a restore do you have to do?
