RAID 1 mirror is not mirroring

When I purchased my EX4, my system came with 4 2TB drives. I set the system up so that it would have two volumes, and set the volumes up as RAID 1 so that they would mirror.
Recently the system reported that I ran out of space. It turns out that the recycle bin had over 3TB of data. I cleared the recycle bin, and that fixed that problem.
In the process of trying to find what was using up all of my storage space. By using the df command in the shell, I found that volume 1 was 100% used, and volume 2 was 0% used.
Now that I’ve cleared the recycle bin, volume 1 is 13% used, and volume 2 is still 0% used.
My question is, why isn’t drive one mirrored to drive 2, and how do I fix it?

Thank you for your help,

Dave Cox

You misunderstand what RAID is. It does not mirror one volume to another volume.

Volume 1 mirrors itself.
Volume 2 mirrors itself.

In other words, volumes 1 and 2 are completely independent of each other, and both are protected by RAID.
