PR4100 Phone App access without Internet

My Cloud OS 5 Personal & Network Attached Storage My Cloud Pro Series

I am wondering, if my phone App is able to access the PR4100 through wifi only connection.
My brief test show not. Cloud OS5 seems to use a server on the Internet to do authentication.
Please let me know if it is expected.
