Are the HDDs that come with the pre-configured 16TB SAN have a speed of 5400 or 7200RPM ???
They could be either 5400 or 7200. You’d have to pull a drive and check when you buy it. For a NAS, you wouldn’t need more than 5400 rpm drives.
I ordered a PR4100 with 8GB drives pre installed and I was wondering the same thing. It turns out that the standard WD Red drives have a feature called intellipower. According to WD the drives operate at speeds between 5400 and 7200 as needed, in reality they operate between 5400 & 5900. Now, the WD Red Pro drives are 7200rpm’s only and come with a 5 year warranty compared to 3 years for the standard WD Red.
