Power Failure WD External Hardrive

Hi,

I have a Western Digital External Hardrive - model WD100000H1U and it no longer powers up. I’ve tried a new power adapter, but no luck. I’m guessing the power component on the actual be must be fried. I think we had a power surge or something.

What can I do - I know my data should be fine, but I can’t power up the drive to access it! :frowning:

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Well… If the circuit board is fry there’s not much you can do. You can try removing the drive from the case and connecting the unit directly to your computer. Also you can try to contact a data recovery company.
