Plugged in the wrong power adaptor x(

Earlier today, I wasn’t paying attention when I connected the 1tb external hard drive onto the laptop;  I didn’t know that I connected the laptop’s power adapter onto the external hard drive.  When I plugged in the correct one, the light did not turn on.  I thought at first the usb cable no longer worked since I had to jiggle it around sometimes, but I successfully connected my camera with it.  After searching through google I somehow found out from this site that it could’ve been the laptop’s power adaptor that might’ve caused this.

I don’t want to immediately use the same solution as the past threads since I’m thinking there might be a different way to fix this.

Check the posts by fzabkar he’s about the only one who understandd the boards. You probably burned a diode which he has helped other people bypass and make the drive usable. You can also PM him for help.

I looked through past threads in this forum that had this same exact problem.  fzabkar kept mentioning snipping out D4 diode, but I feel like more has to be done rather than simply removing it.

I need as much help as possible since I don’t know anything about the internal structures of a computer -_-
