A couple of weeks ago i bought this wonderful mediaplayer, today i updated it to te latest firmware (v 1.01.10).
This firmware has the function to show thumbnails at the movie display (where you see the folders with all the movies you have on the disk), wich is great.
My question is, how do i get a thumbnail/coverart for a movie, without touching the movie file? (doing a new merge for this image on an big .mkv file is not an option :)). So i don’t see an ugly folder anymore, but an image of the movie thats in that folder. If possible for al kind of formats (video_ts, mp4 and so on).
If possible, does it also allow to make an thumbnail/coverart for an folder dat contains other folders. For example, the foider movies contains folders with movies in that folders, but i want the folder movies also to have an tumbnail/coverart?
Thanks in advance, looking forward to helpfull replies!
Sorry, you’re out of luck. As far as I know this isn’t available.
I know the release notes for the latest version of the firmware specifically mention support for cover art, but there seems no way to make it happen. At least the manual has not been updated to explain it. I have tried the methods whereby cover art is achieved for .mkv files on the WDTV HD Live box and even embedded images in .mp4 files, all to no avail…
I spoke to the technical guys at WD and they said a decision had been make to have a preview mode instead, which is no use at all for movies.
I put up an idea in the ideas listings for the Elements Play, but so far only four other people have supported it. You’ll find it under “Hot ideas” (sic). If you agree, please click the kudos box to register your support.
