Passport for Mac is [Deleted - Privacy]

I bought a 1TB Passport for Mac because I needed to back up important files for the Bowling Club and Association I am Secretaries for.
Since I bought it I have had nothing but problem after problem. It won’t automatically back up unless I restart my computer every time, Now that I’ve saved important files onto it, I can read those old files but now it won’t add anything new. I should have just bought a large USB stick and done it the old fashioned way. This was a waste of money and time!

How did you perform the backup? What is the name of the application you used or which steps did you follow? Your WD Passport does not backup files on its own without a governing program controlling your system backups.

Basically, you should have just COPIED the bowling club files to its own folder on the drive, and not messed with a backup program for something this simple…

I have an iMac running Yosemite and use Time Machine for backups. I have been in contact with WD Support before regarding the auto backup failure and they talked me through a couple of things over the phone. They also instructed me on how to save my files to the Passport as until then hadn’t known how to do it. Those are the files still on it, however now I can’t save anything new to it. I get Error - 33 or -50. The auto backup worked maybe once after I had dealt with WD Support and now it’s back to “can’t complete” Oh and now I can’t eject the hard drive either because it keeps saying some app is using it even though everything is off. It’s out of Warranty so I can’t get my money back and quite frankly I don’t want the bloody thing any more, it’s been nothing but problems. I recently bought myself a 62gb USB stick and from now on will simply save my important files to that.

Thanks for the hIndsight, unfortunately when I bought it, the only installation instructions were to set up Time Machine for Macs, which I did, and this being my first hard drive, I thought that was what was happening. When I tried a little later to access some files to check I discovered it was backing up my whole computer and I couldn’t access individual files. That’s why I rang WD Support to find out what it was doing. They told how to copy the files which I did under their supervision, now when I try to add new files or update older ones, it won’t do it, it won’t eject either now so I can’t uninstall it and reinstall it. The bloody thing is a nightmare, and a waste of money. I have bought a 62 gb USB and am keeping my files manually, wasted over $120 on this Passport is bad though.
