I just got a WD MyCloud and its great I can access it from external no problem and me being admin i can access everything
If i want to give restricted access to someone say to a folder with pictures in it do i just create folder save pics in it create new user and generate code and send them code for access
And under the new user set the access rights to be read only or whatever will this only allow access to this folder or will they have access to my public folder as well as i cant seem to turn off public access to this
basically I would like to create a folder for sharing pics or whatever and have some users only have access to that one folder is this possible
Create user / password with email, create share and set permission. Tell giver user the account info and tell them to goto wd2go.com to login or use the wd desktop app.
the public share is exactly what it says it is - public to all users. if you want to make restrictions on users, then you have to create a private share and do it there. There is no way to restrict users from particular subfolders since the permissions are at the share level.
Hi all. Ihave just bought a 3tb My Cloud and am having a problem. The reason I went for the unit is so I could plug my flash drive or passport drive into the expansion port and access it wirelessly as I do for the internal drive on the My Cloud. The drive shows up fine and I can access it and stream from it and copy files to my laptop from it but can not copy data onto it from my laptop. Can it be done?. I want to use the drive in the expansion port the same way I use the My Cloud drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
