I just bought a 4TB My Book for my Windows 10 Dell PC. I was having problems with boot up, so based on other articles in these forums, i have reformatted the My Book to NTFS. I was also having problems initiating backup yesterday (would click start now in backup plan setup, or “Backup Now” on main WD Backup page) and nothing would happen. So based on a few other threads, i downloaded the latest WD Backup software that was posted about 4 days ago. I have checked and i have the absolute latest software (WD Backup version 1.7.6289.16232).
After that download, i was able to get a backup initiated yesterday and saw a progress bar actually show up. However, given the boot issues, i reformatted the drive today and want to re-initiate initial backup.
Same problem… There appears to be no activity. i deleted my backup plan, created a new one, and still nothing. I clicked Backup Now several times, and finally something seems to have started as there is now a WD Backup.swstor directory in my file explorer. However, i still see NO indication in the WD Backup screen (no progress bar or anything) and it appears that though the backup started, it didn’t last long and stopped bc only a few directories were created 30 mins ago and nothing has happened since then.
I’ve also tried setting the schedule so that it might hit a scheduled time slot and start, but no luck there either.
Can anyone help?
