My WD Elements doesn't show in "My Computer"

I had my WD Elements for a year now, and have had no problems before.

But now it won’t show up in My Computer, when I plug it in. It does make the “connection” sound, but nothing more. The light is blinking and I can hear the disk spinning inside.

When I go to Manage under Disks, it is there but as “not initialized”. I can’t initialize it because of some error. If I press properties on the icon, it says the disk is working properly…

In an attempt to solve the problem I dl’ed WD’s DLG, when I run it it says the disk is working properly/no problems found, but it also says that the disk has a size of 0.0GB. And it is an 1TB disk…

I still have my warranty so thought about returning the disk, but I want to recover my files before I send it to WD.

I have tried using Recuva, which people recommend, but it can’t even find the external WD disk and therefore the program can’t recover anything.

So **bleep** do I do? Does anybody have a suggestion to how I recover my files so I can send it to WD or have some suggestion to how I solve this problem?

Thanks in advance

You can try some recovery software like TestDisk http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk  or EaseUS Partition Recovery http://www.ptdd.com/  You might also try downloading  Linkux Live llke Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html and boot from that. Sometimes that will allow access to the files.

It doesn’t work. The programs can’t find the drive…
