I’m not sure that this is relevant, when it’s multiple people reporting the problem - including me, now! - and presumably they have different OS’s and different models of the WD drives.
If you’re a WD person, it would be appreciated if we could know why WD made it so that the drives could not be formatted with the standard tools. What advantage is there to using the WD tools included on the disk? Things like this slow us down when we’re just trying to get our work done and move on to the next thing. We should be able to do what we have to do using the tools already in our arsenal, that we already know well.
