I have a My Passport Wireless and would like to update its firmware to extend battery life. Can someone guide me through the process? How to Install the Product Update: Automated

1. Connect computer to the My Passport Wireless Wi-Fi network.
2. Using a web browser, open the My Passport Wireless dashboard.
3. Go to Firmware Tab.
4. Under the section Auto Update.
5. You will see a pop up confirming to upgrade your firmware, click Ok.

How to Install the Product Update: My Cloud App (Mobile)

1. Connect mobile device to the My Passport Wireless Wi-Fi network.
2. From the App, go to the My Passport Wireless Settings.
3. Select ‘More’ in the upper corner.
4. Select Firmware.
5. Update the Firmware if an update is available.

How to Install the Product Update: Manual

1. Download the firmware to your desktop.
2. Unzip the file and you will find the actual firmware in this format: MyPassportWireless_x.bin.
3. Save this to your desktop.
4. Connect to the My Passport Wireless using Wi-Fi.
5. Open the My Cloud Dashboard UI.
6. Go to Firmware Tab.
7. Under the section Manual Update, click the Update From File button and a window will open.
8. Browse to where you saved the MyPassportWireless_x.bin file and select it.
9. You will see a pop up confirming to upgrade your firmware, click Ok.

How to Install the Product Update: SD Card

1. Download the firmware to your desktop.
2. Unzip the file and you will find the actual firmware in this format: MyPassportWireless_x.bin.
3. Format an SD card FAT-32.
4. Create a folder on the SD card named ‘update’.
5. Copy the MyPassportWireless_x.bin file into the ‘update’ folder.
6. Turn OFF the My Passport Wireless.
7. Insert the SD Card.
8. Turn ON the My Passport Wireless.
9. The My Passport Wireless will boot up, then will start flashing a White LED while the update is happening.
10. Once the update is complete the LED will return to the normal ON state.

I have been running this firmware for YEARS on the device. It’s stable enough!!

(Too bad they abandoned this product)
