This is the second post of mine.
A few weeks back I connected to mypassport.local on my Mac; accepted the T&C and changed the password.
It looks like I have forgotten both the email and password. I am unable to access WD My Cloud.

You will have to reset the MPW back to factory defaults and re-configure it again. See (download) complete user manual for procedure. BTW, come up with a way to NOT forget passwords for your gear!
Thanks Mike,
I use the same email and password for all my personal issues.
WD repeatedly says that my email is not associated with any my cloud.
India support is also looking into. Will update next week.

Hold on, I just read your first post here again, and you have mentioned TWO devices: your post is in the My Passport Wireless forum, and you ask about that device, but then you say you are unable to access WD My Cloud. These are not the same devices. So, I gave you instructions of how to reset your My Passport Wireless. So which device are you actually talking about?
Please bear with me, Mike.
May 12,2016. I bought a My Passport wireless (device) to move images from SD card while on field and access them on my Mac, wirelessly, on return to base.
I followed a 2+ and another 4 minute video tutorials (by WD) to get my device to perform the above.I had to travel for an assignment and nevertheless carried my Mac. I wasn’t able to get connected to “mypassport.local”. Hence my first post on this forum.
On May 18, I could get connected to my passport.local, accept t&c and create a password. I expected the device to move images from SD card to device and connect wirelessly. This was not happening. I used the devise as an ordinary external hard disk through the USB. Now I understand that I should have enabled move/copy while connected to WD.
On returning home I contacted WD support and the associate advised me to download “My Cloud” app on to my iPhone 6S. On iPhone I connected to “my passport local” (with 192.168.60.1) created a password and enabled to move images from SD card to MyPassport.
I was advised by the associate to repeat the above process on my iPad Air and did the same.
Both the iPhone and iPad were getting connected to MyPassport wirelessly and I am able to view all the JPEG images, music, videos. I could even email a few images to myself.
I was advised by WD support associate to down load My Cloud app on to my Mac from the website of WD. This app is shown as WD MY CLOUD on my Mac.
This app is not functioning like the apps on iPhone and iPad. The email and password I key in are shown as incorrect. I tried to reset the password. The email I keyed in to receive the link to reset password results in “the email address you entered is not associated with a MyCloud.com account”. This is the only email I use for my personal needs.
My efforts are to use “My Passport Wireless” (a) to move images from SD card to My Passport (b) access the images on my Mac wirelessly (c) post process the images on my Mac and (d) save both the original and processed images on My Passport Wireless.
I am not tech savvy. I appreciate your efforts in giving me a handholding to achieve the purpose of acquiring the devise … My Passport Wireless.
I will be traveling for the next five days (I am a finance and audit professional). Will be able access your emails but wouldn’t be able to carry out your advise as I will be without the device and Mac.

OK, Anand, I am back to try and help again. I see some of the confusion is that there are THREE things named My Cloud; there is a NAS product named My Cloud, (that is not a concern here) a MOBILE APP called My Cloud, and a website URL called MyCloud.com. Now, I understand your situation better.
I use the My Cloud APP to access my MPW and my My Cloud NAS. I do not see a need for me to use the Mycloud.com access. The best way to use the MPW and computer (be it a PC or a Mac) is to connect the MPW to the computer via the USB cable supplied, as one would any drive. I can manage my MPW this way and add or delete files to the MPW.
Now, I recently learned that some of the newest Mac computers do not even have a USB port anymore. All connections to it must be via wireless connection, (and therefore would require using the mycloud.com browser access.) If you have a Mac like this, then I see why you are using mycloud.com, but if you don’t, then I suggest you connect the MPW directly to the Mac and not use mycloud, com unless there is another reason to use it…
I use Windows PC computers, so a lot about the Macs is a foreign language to me. I do have an iPhone and iPad, so I do know some things about the Apple devices through these two gadgets.
So, let me know the current status of your problems, and I will see if I can continue to help out.

Mike,
Thank you so much for your detailed analysis of my issue with MPW. Just in time after my return from traveling.
The very purpose of my buying MPW was to (1) move my images from SD card to MPW and (2) more importantly to access them on my Mac wirelessly:-) to work on them in my Lightroom 6.
I have been using two external seagate hard disks (EHD) and saving my images on both…one for my Windows and another for my Mac. I am connecting these two EHDs through the USB ports. My Mac does have USB ports.
I was advised to go for a MPW to suit my two requirements stated above.
I was able to access MPW, both on my iPhone 6S and iPad Air, wirelessly and view the images. BTW I enabled copying images from SD card when I accessed my passport local on these two devices. I will check wether this is working and update you.
My efforts are to access my images on WPW wirelessly on my Mac (though I have done it through the USB cable) for the simple reason that MPW was purchased at a higher price than the one without wireless connectivity. This MPW cannot be returned to amazon.in as the 30 days return policy has expired.
I am copying Western Digital Support into this email to better understand the issue … from your email to me.
I appreciate your handholding and look forward to solve the issue.
Anand
Mike,
The earlier mail and this one are screenshots of my iPhone and iPad wirelessly connected to My Passport and accessed.
This sis NOT happening on my Mac.

Hmmm, you have shown screen shots from the phone and pad of the MPW Dashboard as viewed from a browser on phone/pad, and photos as seen via the My Cloud APP on the iphone/iPad,
If you are expecting to see same view of photos on a computer (PC or mac) when using the mycloud.com access, I don’t think you can. A computer and a mobile device do not work the same way with a drive, any drive, including the MPW. If you want to “work on” and edit your photos on a Mac, you need to copy the photo to the Mac, use the Mac editing program and edit it that way, and not when the file is still on the MPW.
It is late night here, and I will have to get back to the forum later, But, I want to MAKE SURE you have the complete user manual for the MPW. It is a required document for MPW owners to fully understand the thing. So, go here at WD Support to download the user manual in whatever language you prefer. Let me know you have this manual.
–Mike
Thanks Mike, sleep well.

On a computer you need to access the MPW as to any other network drive or share.
First, connect to the MPW wi-fi, then:
Hi Mike and Stangen
Thanks a lot.
I had to speak to the support team of WD and Apple to resolve the issue of my Mac Book Pro accessing mypassport.local
Wd team stated that the issue is with Apple. Hence Apple came in. They were awesomely cooperative and after an hour of sharing my laptop I was suggested to reformat my laptop. Which I did and set it up. I was able to log on to mypassport local and view my passport dashboard. Change my password etcetera. One battle won.
The second battle of viewing my passport on the Mac was resolved to the extent I find My Passport in my Finder under “share”. I am able to see both Public and SD. I need to:
Anand,
I am glad to hear you got assistance from both WD and Apple with your MPW issues.
I also hope you downloaded the user manual for the MPW from the link I supplied to you. It can tell you more about the operations of the MPW that I ever can. As for the mac-related questions, I am no help at all other than I understand how computers work, and I know how to make my Windows machines do what I want them to do, but having no direct experience with Macs, I have limited understanding with the way they work.
So, I will only address your current MPW questions. Your Public folder in the MPW is just the “parent” folder all your personal files go into, like your media files; photos, music and video files that you want to make “portable” in a MPW.
Your My Passport IS secure, because you gave it a password to allow you, and anyone else you give the password to, such as family members, etc. Since the My Cloud app on a phone or iPad is used to access the MPW when used as a portable device, and when accessed the first time this way, a password must be used (that gets stored in the app of that device,) that is basically the security you have and need. If someone has the My Cloud app in their device, they need to connect to YOUR MPW with that password, or they are not able to access it. So, for example, you are using your MPW at a coffee shop, someone could see the SSID of your My Passport, try and get connected, but they can’t without your password. One way I keep mine secure and not confused with any other My Passports around me is I changed the default name of My Passport’s wireless signal to be unique, A common way this is done with devices is use the last three characters of the serial number in the new name, so if my MPW serial number ends with 567, then I renamed my Passport’s SSID to be: My Passport-567. The way you do this is explained in the user manual.
Also, no sensitive info is on my MPW, and it is not the sole storage of the files on it. My MPW is used to hoel COPIES of my media files, and the originals are safely stored at home on drives or in my WD NAS. I only keep music and video files on my MPW so I can enjoy the files on the mobile devices when I travel.
I do not use the SD card feature of the MPW to transfer data. Too slow for me, and so I connect the MPW directly to my computer to add or delete files from it. As far as I know the MPW can be setup to automatically copy data from an SD card to the MPW without user being connected to the Wi-Fi signal. Check the user manual for details,
I hardly ever use the MPW at home, but if I do, I use it connected to my home network so that all my devices can access the files on it. This is called concurrent connection, and again, the user manual explains this feature. But again, no one can get into the MPW even on my network, unless they have my network password. Bottom line: I don’t worry about security beyond who I give my network passwords to. My router has guest passwords, and I have two kinds I can give people; Internet-only or that, along with access to my home network, too. Very few people are given complete access to my home network! (nor do they need it)
You also may want to view the online FAQs for the MPW, too.
Well, good luck with, and enjoy, your MPW.
Take care, Mike
