My Passport Pro Thunderbolt CRASHES my Mac Pro

I bought the My Passport Pro 4TB Thunderbolt drive about a year ago and it has been clear sailing up until the last couple of days. My Mac Pro NEVER crashes, but it has crashed 6-7 times in the past 2 days. Right before it crashes, I get this message: “Disk Not Ejected Properly” “Eject My Passport Pro before disconnecting it and turning it off”.

Then about 15 seconds later, my Mac reboots. Sometimes the drive will run for 30 minutes, other times it runs for a little longer, but within 1-2 hours, the message appears and my Mac reboots.

When I disconnect the My Passport Pro, there are no crashes.

When the drive is working, it seems to be working fine. I’ve run the WD Drive Utilities and it doesn’t show any errors. I was even able to copy 100gb of files from the WD drive to my main HD without any issues. So it appears that everything is working as it should except for those pesky reboots!

Anybody know what may be causing this?

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.
