When I start my computer a message says that the device in Drive H must be formatted before it can be used. When I try to format it is get an error that sys window cannot format the drive. I open WD Smartware and it shows my computer but not my May Passport drive and do not have the option to back up files to the drive (not surprising since message said drive need to be formatted before I could use it. ny suggestions greatly appreciated
Hi RoyBarney, welcome to the WD Community. Try running a test using DLG, if the test completes successfully, select the option to write quick zeros. Be sure to connect the Passport directly to the PC, avoid any extension cables or USB hubs.
