My Passport is corrupted and files disappeared!

This is my second WD 2T My Passport HD. 

I use it connected to my Netgear router to backup my Macbook air and also to backup my photos.

Recently I noticed that some files I added to th HD are dissapearing. My older backups are gone even if I had used only 500gb of the disk.

I am trying to recover my photos but I can’t copy the files to a new HD. If I try to connect it directly in my Mac it does not recognize it. I try to repair but it says it is corrupted.

I am really frustraded with WD HD, it is the second time it happens in one year and I am at risk to lose my photos and backups forever.

If your files are just in one place that’s not a back up. I’m sure you realize that by now. You could try some free software to access the missing files, they should be available still.
