My Passport 0740 making clicking noise and then goes quiet without showing up on my pc

Hi,

My passport 0740 suddenly started making a beep/clicking noise on connecting it to the pc and then goes quiet after some time but is not accessible after that. When i check my devices and computers, it shows that the drive is working correctly but i am not able to see it in “My Computer”.

I have tried to use an alternate cable just in case there isnt enough power going in but that doesnt seem to be the case. I also downloaded a software to recover my .doc,.pdf files but the recovery software is not able to detect the drive.

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with a solution to recover my files from the external drive.
