I have recently purchased the 2tb My Cloud personal server and I have spent most of the time since trying to connect it with my Windows Tablet. I have gone through form after form and have found nothing that is at all helpful in solving this. The only way I see this working is with an app that is available on the Windows Marketplace, and there is no such thing available. How can you come out with a product who’s main tag line is “available anywhere, on any device” and not include one of the major growing tablets. The only reason I bought this is so I can use it in tandem with my Laptop. This is a major issues on which you should address, please fix this or come up with a way to let us access our clouds.
You don’t need to use their crappy app. Samba works just fine.
I assume this is not the RT version of surface. You can go to the WD website and install the app from there. as mentioned above for LAN access the app is not the prefeered methode of access, it is for remote access though
if it is the RT version you may not have an app option

there is a Surface RT app you can download from the store. You can stream content etc
