My Cloud Single Drive Gen 2 drive fault

I have an original (not Home) My Cloud 8TB single drive gen 2 unit. It has been running OS5 for some time now. I have been getting drive faults, but the light remains blue. I did a full system diagnostic, it took 2 days to complete and showed no errors. I rebooted and now it shows Healthy. If I was worried and wanted to replace the HDD with one of the same size and had backups of my data, how would I do that? Can I just pop a new drive in it and let it do its thing then reupload my data? Or do I have to do some special setups or something? I have been using this for a long time. It is very useful to me and I don’t just want to give up on the NAS hardware if the drive goes bad. Thanks.

You should backup your data if you haven’t already done so. You cannot just “pop in” a unformatted or formatted drive and have it work. The drive needs to be properly prepared with the correct partitions (and their formats) along with the operating system copied to it. There are numerous posts and discussions on how to “unbrick” a new/used hard drive to put into a second generation single bay My Cloud enclosure that can be found by using the forum search feature (magnifying glass icon top right). One can try using clone software like Clonezilla and others to clone the existing drive to a new one of the same size or larger. Or one can try the following “unbrick” directions:
