My cloud and logging in on a Mac

HI all,

new owner of a My Cloud home disk. I can see the disk in the finder and the public folder but when I try and sign in to Discovery. I see the message attached. So I follow the instructions but then it tells me that I have to activate the security options at start up and unencrypted my Mac hard drive. This seems a lot to ask. Am I doing something wrong? I am using a MacBook Pro 14inch M1 Pro.

thanks
Josh

This might explain what is going on:

thanks. really helpful. The downside is I can’t do what it says because my HD encrypted so I have to go to recovery mode and unencrypted the disk.

I can get access to the public folder though if I store files in there does it just mean people on my wifi network can see what I put there? Hoping so as this disk is for photo backups and they can all have access anyway.

thanks again

Josh

I think that I’ve read that you can but I use a EX2 Ultra so I cannot say for sure. You may find the answer in the user manual on this one.

thanks. appreciated.
