Hello, I have had a failure with my My book it won’t turned on so I removed the disk and it seems to be a file system there the ext4 on a 2tb drive. I need to to get to the data and copy to my windows machine but I have had no luck with some popular Linux disk windows reading programs or Linux live CDs. I would greatly appreciate so assistance from the community. Thank you
Sorry. I have the disk attached to my win 7 computer the os sees the disk but can’t read it. I have used a few popular Linux win os based file recovery tools they have not been able to get to the data. I have just installed R-Linux on win 7 R-Linux can see the disk but in order to open the file system i have to scan it. I’m in for long night since its counting at 4 hours + to scan the drive. Not even sure if i am doing this correctly.
Please use Disk Internals Linux Reader. I had the same problem with you last week. And I used this software to successfully read files on My Book Live. You’ll see two 2TB raid disks, and a logic /CacheVolume above them in EXT4 format. The folder /CacheVolume is what you used to see in your My Book Live when you logged with SSH. Go to /CacheVolume/shares and you’ll find your files there.
Hello, Thanks for the information wish I had your info yesterday. I used Disk Internals yesterday but could not find the files on the drive I looked in many folders but could not find them so I installed R-Linux with success. Scanning the drive took some time but I was able to begin recovery. I’m not done yet so I will install the Disk Internals and give it another try. THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO, let you know how I make out when I try the second recovery
