My Book is recognized by computer but no icon, cannot open

I have a My Book (14 TB) and it’s only one week old. When I plug the USB in, the WD Discovery recognized that it’s “there,” but no icon appears on the desktop and I cannot see anything inside. It’s also silent whereas I used to hear it working. When I try to use WD Drive Utilities, I click “Run Drive Status Check” or “Run Quick Drive Test,” but nothing happens.

Try unplugging and reconnecting your My Book to a different USB port. Check Disk Management for it and assign a drive lettter. updating drivers or using a new cable might help too!
