My Book Essential not backing up

I have my My Book Essential set up to automatically backup at the top of the hour. It has stopped backing automatically. I click on the WD icon, click “Back Up Now” and nothing happens. I can view all the files previously backed up. And I can open all the files on My Book Essential.

I went to WD Support, found a WD Backup Set Up Download update, and downloaded that. Still I can only open previously backed up files, and not back up new ones either with the automatic back up or the manual back up start.
