Hi. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. I have a WD 5 TB external HD which I have been using for a couple of years. It works perfectly on 2 of my computers with the old version of Windows 10 Home (Build 17134). I recently purchased a brand new computer with the latest version of Windows 10 Home (Build 19042) and the drive is read sporadically and may be accessible for an hour or 2. If I shut down the computer, after I boot it back up, the drive will either not appear at all, or it will get a Redundancy Error. Again, the drive still works just fine on my other 2 computers with the old version of Windows 10. I ran a few utilities on the drive as well to scan for errors and there were none. Is this a known issue and if so, is there some kind of patch? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) error occurs due to hard drive corruption, misconfigured files, registry file corruption, cluttered disk, unsuccessful program installation, or when there’s a bad spot on the storage media. CRC error is also a serious issue that must be resolved as soon as possible to avoid a system failure and data loss.
Here are few methods to fix the Cyclic Redundancy Check error:
- Run CHKDSK Utility Scan
- Run SFC Scan
- Use a data recovery tool
