My 2 year old passport with data on it asking to be formated

My existing 2 year old passport ultra with all my back ups is asking to be formatted before I can use it. It has all my data I assume I will lose if I format!
Help!!!

Hi,

The drive seems corrupted and that’s why it is asking for formatting. Possible reason for such issue can be damaged file system of the drive. I suggest you to use check disk command to check and repair the hard drive issues.

thanks , you were right on the money. I tried that yesterday, took a little work but all ok now. I used WD diagnostic tool and it said all was ok.
