I own a WD Elements 4TB External HDD (Model No.: WDBWLG0040HBK-04) and it’s now out of warranty.
I want to take the drive out of it’s enclosure and place it into my desktop using the SATA connection. Upon trying this, I receive “Error: disk is unreadable.” Moving it then back to the enclosure, the drive works fine again. Is this not possible without formatting the drive? I read on your website that it was.
My issue behind formatting the drive is that I don’t have another 4TB drive to back the contents up on to…
Is there any way around this?
