Message I keep receiving inre not completing backup

I’ve had my WD Backup Drive for a couple of years … worked fine. Lately, I keep getting the message, "Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “My Book!” Have no idea what happened.

Make sure the drive is seen on disk utility. Also make sure the drive is plugged in directly into a wall outlet to just to make sure it is not a power issue.

Where do I find Disk Utility? Is it at the very top of the screen in the menu bar? I’m a tyro at technical stuff … thanks for responding …
