Memory Upgrade for WD My Cloud DL2100?

I just ordered the WD My Cloud DL2100 and want to know what type of memory can be used to bump it up to 5GB?  I am assuming it is a single slot that accommodates a 4GB memory module.  Is it SODIMM?  Speed?  Other specifics?

Thank you!

Good point.

I found the manual online and there is nothing referenced regarding specifications or how to upgrade the memory

The query about this is in WD’s system with a reference to this discussion.  I guess it’s a watch this space moment. I also want to know because if the wrong specification of SODIMM is installed then the NAS will either not start or worst case it would be bye-bye data.

If eBuyer.com is correct then this is the SODIMM to get:

Kingston 4GB 204Pin SODIMM PC3-10600

http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/?partid=kvr13s9s8/4

$30, that’s cheap enough.  Maybe I’ll be the guinea pig here…

Thanks for the info.

This is the information I see on ebuyer.com for the DL2100:

WD My Cloud DL2100 4TB 2-Bay Nas

  • For NAS advice email SOLUTIONS@EBUYER.COM
  • To upgrade the memory use Kingston 4GB 240 Pin DIMM PC3-12800 CL11 (KVR16N11S8/4 – QFC…

Does this info help?  It is from WD’s Data Sheet for the Business Series

Memory:

DL2100

1 GB, upgradable to 5 GB

with 4GB DDR3L DIMM

DL4100

2 GB, upgradable to 6 GB

with 4GB DDR3L SO-DIM

I noticed that also on the data sheet.  I found it strange they would use DIMM in the 2 bay DL2100 and SO-DIMM in the 4 bay DL4100.  I’m still waiting to receive the NAS and will know for sure once I open it up.

Thanks for the info.

why do you need so memory?

i cand barely see it reach 30% used memory

Well, how many users do you have simultaneously accessing the drive at any given time?  In my situation, there could be anywhere from 10-15 users accessing this drive simultaneously.  Therefore, the more memory, the better.

Thanks i understand now… im using on my home with 2 users only

Just recieved both of my units (1) for work replacing my dog EX4 and (1) for the kiddos.

Ordered my memory from Amazon and should be here shortly.

Edited - Realized this thread was in reference to the DL2100 not DL4100

so how did it go. Is normal DIM working on DL2100 ?

did you had any problems ? did you have a significant improvement with the extra RAM ?
